Slovenia’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.1% in April 2026, up from a four-month low of 2.5% in March, reaching its highest level since October 2025. The uptick was primarily driven by a sharper increase in housing and utilities costs (9.7% vs 5.8% in March), largely due to higher oil prices and supply disruptions stemming from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Prices also rose in several other categories: transport (4.6% vs -1.1%), health (5.3% vs 4.0%), personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services (2.4% vs 1.6%), and information and communication (2.2% vs 2.0%).

In contrast, clothing and footwear prices fell more sharply (-2.9% vs -0.5%), while inflation eased in insurance and financial services (2.5% vs 9.5%) and in food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.0% vs 2.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1.9% in April, compared with a 0.2% increase in March. Meanwhile, the harmonized inflation rate climbed to 3.4%, up from 2.4% in the previous month.
