16.12.202509:06:58UTC+00CAC 40 Marginally Lower on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the CAC 40 index experienced a slight decline of 0.1%, settling at approximately 8,120 points. This movement reversed the modest gains from the prior trading session, as investors exercised caution in light of impending economic data announcements. Defense sector stocks faced downward pressure due to ongoing developments in the Ukraine negotiations. Notably, Thales shares decreased by 2.3%, while Airbus saw a reduction of 1.3%. Despite launching its new 875-MW gas-steam power facility in Flémalle, Engie experienced a marginal drop of 0.2%. Other prominent decliners included STMicroelectronics, which fell by 2.4%, and Dassault Systèmes, down by 1.2%. Conversely, Kering's stock appreciated by 0.5% following the sale of a majority interest in its Fifth Avenue property to Ardian for $690 million, although the company retained 40% of the ownership. Banking stocks showed slight improvements, with BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, and Societe Generale each rising by 0.6%, 0.6%, and 0.5%, respectively. On the economic data front, France's manufacturing PMI exceeded expectations, whereas the services PMI slightly missed forecasts. Nevertheless, both indicators remained above the 50 threshold, indicating continued economic expansion.
